Rock Climbing Topoguidebook;
From the Brévent to the Chézerys slabs.
The Aiguilles Rouges are the range of peaks on the other side of the Chamonix
Valley to the Mont Blanc Range. They sit outside of the rainshadow of the
major summits and so are often in climbable condition when the higher peaks
are not. However, outside of a few popular training climbs such as the Index,
this is still an adventurous area with glacier approaches and long (up to 12
pitch) rock routes such as the classic Voie des Dalles (F5c) on the Pouce.
Over 170 major climbs are described on the Chamonix valley side of the range,
many of which are quickly accessible via telepherique. Areas covered in this
volume are: Brévent, Plampra – Charlanon, Index – Glière – Pouce, Floria –
Gapard – Crochues, Belvédère – Chamois – Persévérance, Chézerys.
