Hikers affectionately refer to Brian Patton and Bart Robinson`s Canadian
Rockies Trail Guide as `the bible`. When it was published in 1971 it was the
first guidebook with accurate distances and detailed descriptions to the
trails of the five national parks of the Canadian Rockies – Banff, Jasper,
Kootenay, Yoho and Waternay Lakes.
Several major revisions followed, including expanded coverage that included
accessible provincial parks such as Mount Robson, Assiniboine, Peter Lougheed,
Elk Lakes and Akamina-Kishinena. Now in its 8th edition, the Canadian Rockies
Trail Guides has evolved into the most comprehensive and well-known guidebook
to hiking in the region.
Features include:
*descriptions of 229 trails plus dozens of side trips and routes
*more than 150 photographs
*40 maps
*detailed trail logs
*contacts for park information, books and maps, backcountry accommodations and transportation services
