Alpinist Magazine is committed to celebrating world alpinism and adventure
climbing in the most beautiful, inspirational manner possible. Visually
stunning, thought-provoking, respectful, with an underlying recognition of the
absurdity of our pursuit, the pages of Alpinist capture climbing in its most
powerful manifestations. This is a magazine for climbers by climbers!
In number 12:
Mountain Profile : Fontainebleau.
Alpinists began the pilgrimage to Fontainebleau nearly a century and a half
ago. Along the way, they stopped using the sandstone boulders for training and
started using them for fun. Emmanuel Ratouis introduces us to the birthplace
of modern climbing, while Robert Paragot, Michel Libert, Jo Montchausse,
Philippe Le Denmat and Olivier Le breton reflect on their experiences in the
forest.
Full Circle: Emerging from a mentor’s shadow is never easy. But 2,500 feet up
the north face of the Grandes Jorasses on a new route in winter, the challenge
can take on new dimensions.
PLEASE NOTE: THERE WILL BE NO No. 13! NEXT No. WILL BE No. 14!
