This is the story of John Syrett’s life compiled by his elder sister from information and photographs supplied by many of his friends and climbing partners.
In the 1970s John was a ground-breaking climber on gritstone crags in the North of England but little is known of him as a person. He was very private sharing little of himself with others.
This account attempts to put together the many facets of John’s life and discusses the events that led to his suicide in 1985 when he was just 34 years old. The book includes many photographs, some previously published and many not seen before, from throughout his life.
