The Bat

The film reconstructs Robin Smith and Dougal Haston’s first ascent of The Bat
on Ben Nevis in Scotland – an even harder climb than Sassernach, put up by the
English invaders – Joe Brown and Don Whillans – only months before. The climb
was the Scottish reply to the audacious route stealing English. The script
uses Smith’s classic and lyrical account of the climb; The Bat and the Wicked
to retell the story of their epic. DVD 25 min.
