In book three, Royal captures his thrilling adventures during the Golden Age
\nof Yosemite Valley: `The book is about what happened to me after the first
\nascent of the face of Half Dome. It covers getting drafted and two years in
\nthe Army. We make the 2nd ascent of the Nose of El Capitan as well as the
\nfirst ascent of the Salathe Wall on that same great rock.
\nI meet Liz and we get married. I climb the Direct Route on Half Dome and make
\nother Yosemite firsts. And in 1963 we make the first ascent of the Southeast
\nFace of Mt. Proboscis in Canada. The book ends with the successful ascent of
