A guide to the 145km Tour of the Matterhorn, described anti-clockwise from
\nZermatt and visits 6 valleys via Zinal, Arolla and Breuil, offering
\nspectacular views of 25 peaks of over 4000m. The route also links up with the
\nChamonix to Zermatt walkers‘ Haute Route and the Tour of Monte Rosa. Includes
\ntwo glacier crossings and takes 8 to 10 days.<\/p>\n
The Tour of the Matterhorn is a superb alpine trek with a huge variety of
\nscenery and culture. As the Matterhorn straddles the Swiss-Italian frontier,
\nthe trek visits both countries, each with its own unique traditions, way of
\nlife and scenery.<\/p>\n
The tour goes over high passes reached by delightful footpaths and through
\ncharming alpine villages where life has hardly changed for centuries,
\nproviding a precious insight into local life. Not only is the Matterhorn seen
\nfrom all sides, but there are also superb vantage points for views of many of
\nthe other high summits of the region. <\/p>\n
The tour includes two glacier crossings and usually takes about eight to ten
