In 2010, National Geographic hired me to help them map out all of El Capitan’s
\nroutes. Working closely with Martin Gamache, we created a base image, which in
\n2012 helped create the foundation for creating this poster. This giant
\nclimbing poster maps all of the routes on El Cap including the new Free Climb
\nof the Dawn Wall by Tommy Caldwell and Kevin Jorgeson.<\/p>\n
Thanks to Jimmy Chin, I received a call from National Geographic. Their goal
\nwas to expand the composite drawing of the Southeast Select across the entire
\nface. Again Tom Frost’s never ending support kept me moving forward and in the
\nend my artwork was shared with 8.3 million people in 36 languages.<\/p>\n
A year later, using the National Geographic base images and expanding them
\naround the corner to include the West Face, I created the ultimate base image
\nof every feature on El Capitan. A lot had happened in Yosemite National Park
\nin the decade since I drew the Southeast Select poster, and I was able to
\nresearch and draw topos for 20 free climbing routes on El Capitan.<\/p>\n
Another amazing asset was the Yosemite Extreme Pano Imaging Project by xRez
\nStudio. This website brought a telescope right onto my computer screen where
\nclimbers like Tommy Caldwell could sit next to me and point out beta in
\namazing detail. The poster chronicles the evolution of the wall’s free
\nclimbing routes and includes the underlying matrix of the wall’s aid routes
\nfor reference.<\/p>\n
