And the person at the<br \/>\nhelm of our vertical lexicon is Matt Samet: climbing\u2019s modern-day amalgam of<br \/>\nwriters Shakespeare, Bierce and Webster.<br \/>\nMatt Samet has written hands down the most wickedly funny prose in climbing\u2019s<br \/>\nconsiderable compendium. When I started as an intern, and then associate<br \/>\neditor, of Rock and Ice, he was my first mentor, and he taught me so much of<br \/>\nwhat I know.
