With 120.000 square miles, Oman is the size of Great Britain and Ireland
\ncombined. But it has only four million inhabitants. The landscape in the
\nwestern part is dominated by the desert. But if you\u2019re expecting monotonous
\nsand deserts you\u2019re wrong. Most parts of the country are dominated by rugged
\nmountain ranges. The Al Hajar Mountains are in the northern part of the
\ncountry. Jebel Shams is the highest peak with 2.998 meters above sea level.
\nThe Dhofar Mountains dominate the southern part of Oman. Jebal Samhan with
\n1.800 m is the highest peak in this area.<\/p>\n
