The first guidebook to bouldering in Hong Kong was published in 2004, following a period of extensive exploration and development in the late nineties and early naughties. Things went seemingly quiet during the mid-naughties and twenty-tens but this slow rate of development changed dramatically in 2020, when COVID closed climbing gyms and travel opportunities ceased to exist.
This recent boom lead to a massive increase in bouldering and the number of documented areas in, and around, Hong Kong which, in turn lead to this thoroughly updated edition to bouldering in Hong Kong. The guide contains detailed descriptions and topos for more than 1,300 bolder problems scattered across more than thirty different sectors in an area that many now see as Asia’s premier bouldering destinations.
