Despite its enormous potential, Montenegro has so far been one of the last countries in Europe without its own dedicated climbing guidebook. At the same time, the country already boasts a considerable number of established climbing areas and routes, as well as an extraordinary amount of untapped potential for developing additional routes. Thanks to its geographical location and climatic conditions, Montenegro has the ideal conditions to establish itself in the coming years as an international climbing and vacation destination for sport climbers from all over Europe.
Valentin Sattek’s newly published climbing guide presents around 800 sport climbing routes in 9 regions, covering a total of 32 areas. The author dedicates the first few pages to providing all the important and useful information about the country and local climbing. The pictograms used in the book are also explained.
And then you can dive right in—into the almost untouched diversity of climbing in Montenegro. Each region and area/sector is briefly described and introduced with a graphic or photographic map as well as QR codes. This is followed by excellent color photo topos and a route overview including name, difficulty, length, first ascension, and a commentary on the route.
